As we met to discuss what we wanted our exhibition to be about there was only one thing about our present lives that we were sure of: everything is changing.
The world is in continual upheaval. In every direction we look, we see change. We have witnessed everything from new social realities being shaped by global pandemic; to environmental unrest as people rise up demanding change; to social disturbances as the world experiences movements like “me too”, “black lives matter”, “pride” initiatives, “red dress campaigns” and the current focus on discrimination against people of asian descent across the globe and so much more. Change is uncomfortable, sometimes painful, as we all learn to become new humans together—but change can be extraordinarily good when we learn to embrace it at the right time.
The art in this exhibition consists of our artistic works expressing a world in flux, transition and a state of constant change. You will encounter here art that not only expresses our experience of change, but also our nostalgia for what used to be and our longing for the stability of what we used to know.
